Its been a long and cold winter here in Omaha this year, one where the snow has been blanketing the ground for a lot longer then it typically does around here. I took this shot the other day just outside of work after the snow had stopped falling.
Its been a while since I last wrote in here, but if I recall correctly I think I was complaining about the lack of snow around Christmas…. Well I think I can safely say that we here in Omaha paid for all those nice days back in December al thru January and February… Then March arrived, and the “light snow” the weather guys were predicting ended up being the Blizzard of 2007 in Omaha. 13 inches of snow, combined with wind gust up to 60 miles an hour leads to one exciting snow day.
Spent a total of three and a half hours shoveling today, piles of snow as tall as me along both sides of the driveway, and they are predicting another 2-3 inches of snow in the morning!

Pictures don’t really do it justice, but the piles on either side of the drive way are around 6 feet tall… Also, not real great quality, but when its blowing around 35 mph when trying to take a pic what do you expect.
There is a coldness to the skies over Nebraska now, the brilliant cobalt blues and cottony whites of summer are gone, swept away by the winds of fall with its fiery colors, now muted by the coolness of a dreary gray sky. Watching a winter sunset, the chill of the impending darkness creeps on you. The bitter bite of winter begins to slowly drift over your perceptions…
Yet there is one small ray of hope… the Sun throwing up one last bit of warmth, defying the gloomy gloam with a gleaming display of crimson and oranges hearkening back to balmier times…
