Halloween Beetle - Fall Colors
Stayed home from work today to take care of Wes while Leah dealt with a touch of the flu. Hopefully Wes and I manage to stay healthy and not come down with the bug as well. I took the opportunity while they were napping to go out and take a few shots of a maple tree in the back yard that is just gorgeous. While out there shooting pictures of the blazing leaves, I noticed there were thousands of little bugs flying around on the tree and the shed next to it. I took a closer look and found this Multicolored Asian Beetle, also known as the Halloween Beetle. Seeing how it is Halloween today, I thought it only appropriate to post this shot...

Fall Colors
Leah and I decided to go out for a little drive the other day to see the fall colors. With all the aftermath of the accident last year, I really felt like I had missed the whole fall. I always love the colors the fall leaves bring out, and the crisp cool air. We managed to find a nice little spot at Schram State Park in Nebraska and found some nice colors.

A Portrait
Took this shot last Saturday while getting ready to go to the grocery store. I had set Wes down on the bed, and he looked so cute, I had to grab the camera and snap away. He is fairly used to me taking pictures, but I think the way that I popped up behind him made him look a bit suspiciously at me...
Anyway, Wes at 6 weeks...

Wes has a Big Week!
Wes is going to have a big day today, as he will be getting baptized. His baptism will be at 6pm at Divine Sheppard in Millard. His Grandpa Voelker will be the one administering the sacrament. All our friends are invited to attend.
Wes had quite the week this week, starting out with a visit to the rock and gem show in Omaha, his first trip out of state to see a big steam locomotive, and now his baptism today. We had a fun time at the rock show, where I had some of my silver out for display with my grandparents. Getting to put some of my work on display was exciting, and a bit surreal, as I have attended the rock show to see my grandparents' work since I was a little kid, and now I am exhibiting some of my own work. Very cool experience.

Later that day, Leah and I took Wes out to see a working steam locomotive that Union Pacific had brought into town on their annual steam excursion. Okay, so we really went because I am a train nut, and seeing a working steam locomotive is a real treat for me. Leah was a good sport and bundled Wes up so that We could go and get some pictures. He seemed to enjoy his trip to Council Bluffs, and we did get some real cute shots of him out at the train yard.
