About the Artist
Welcome to Pale Rider Productions. I am a silversmith and photographer, based in Omaha, Nebraska. My photography focuses on landscapes and images from around Nebraska and the surrounding Midwestern states. My galleries feature images from my travels, nature and large panoramic images. I started silversmithing about 5 years ago as a way to connect with my grandparents, Ray and Ila Kunc, owners of The Workbench in Ralston, Nebraska.
Creativity and artistic talent has always run in my family, and photography was my initial avenue of finding my artistic side. I was given an opportunity to shoot sports while attending Oklahoma State University, and I fell in love with photography. Capturing those moments of victory and defeat, freezing the action and emotions unleashed a desire to share those moments and images with others. I soon found myself jumping out of bed at 3am to capture a beautiful sunrise, wandering in a snowstorm to freeze those delicate snow flakes and finding myself capturing the beauty of the midwest. It's thrilling to shoot an amazing sunset, head home, process your images and revisit what you just saw a few hours ago and then be able to share it with your friends, family and customers.
After graduating from OSU, I began working as an engineer for a manufacturing firm, which sparked my desire to create something tangible and to work with my hands. I was fortunate to have a wonderful opportunity to work with my grandparents who are talented silversmiths with greater than 40 years of experience. Not only was this an opportunity to branch out into a new creative field, but it was also a chance to spend time with my grandparents and carry on their livelihood. I have apprenticed with them for 5 years, learning silver and lapidary techniques and starting down a new creative path.
I hope that you enjoy my images and creations, Jay Hall.
